A charming vintage colour postcard featuring the historic Guild Chapel and School in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. The beautifully illustrated street scene shows the distinctive medieval timber-framed buildings surrounding the chapel, with the Falcon Hotel visible to the left.
The Guild Chapel has origins dating back to the 13th century and is closely associated with the history of Stratford-upon-Avon, including the Shakespeare and Clopton families. The chapel and adjoining Guild buildings formed an important part of medieval Stratford's religious, educational and civic life.
This attractive postcard is part of the Salmon Series and features an artistic colour illustration by W. Quatremain. The reverse has been used and includes handwritten correspondence addressed to Derby, adding an extra glimpse into the postcard's history.
Ideal for collectors of English history, Stratford-upon-Avon memorabilia, architectural postcards, or vintage scenes of historic towns.
