Westbury White Horse, Wiltshire – A.E. Holloway Old Vintage Postcard

Vintage postcard featuring the famous Westbury White Horse in Wiltshire, cut into the chalk hillside overlooking the surrounding countryside. The image shows the White Horse from a rural lane, with the hillside and countryside stretching into the distance.

The reverse provides historical information about the White Horse, stating that it was cut to commemorate the victory of Alfred the Great over the Danish invaders in AD 878. It also notes that the horse has been remodelled several times, the last in 1873.
